My thoughts on Governor JB Pritzker's endorsement of Daniel Biss

In light of Governor JB Pritzker's endorsement of Daniel Biss I thought I should write with my thoughts. This is a disappointing turn, though not surprising. In a way, it’s also revealing. The Roundtable asked for my comments and here they are.

 

This is a local election for mayor. And yet major political figures like the Governor, Kwame Raoul, and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky are being brought in to campaign for Mayor Biss. That tells you that the Biss campaign clearly believes his future prospects are in real danger. ..

He’s running to be mayor for our small suburban town.

It’s good to have at least one candidate sign up to challenge an incumbent. Issues are raised that might otherwise stay under the radar. Jeff Boarini has never before run for elected office but here he is, an underdog, squaring off against a sitting mayor who easily won his last election and enjoys a serious funding advantage.
